138 Uses of Chemical Attacks after Security Council Resolution 2118

Chemical Weapons

On Saturday 1 October 2016 at approximately 19:30, a government forces helicopter dropped two barrel bombs loaded with cylinders containing a poison gas on the agricultural lands in northern Kafr Zita city in Hama governorate. What further verified the incident was the toll of injuries that mounted to 20 people who exhibited symptoms of suffocation and breathing difficulties.

SNHR contacted a number of residents, civil defense members, and local media activists who witnessed the incident and told the Network of the symptoms they saw on the injured such as sever coughing, breathing difficulties, burning eyes, and vomiting which was also confirmed by the pictures and videos we received and have a copies of in addition to pictures that show the remnants of the bombardment and the cylinders loaded with the gas which were found in the incident location.

with Kafr Zita city attack, the total number of the breaches of Security Council Resolution 2118, adopted on 27 September 2013, by government forces amounts to less than 138 breaches including 69 breaches of Resolution 2209, adopted on 6 March 2015, which were documented in our past reports and statements.
This attack proves to any sensible person what has been proven again and again and that is the Syrian regime has absolutely no regard for the Security Council, The Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic, the Chemical Weapons Convention, the international humanitarian law, the international human rights law, The American President Barack Obama’ red line, or Russia’s promises that supposedly guarantees that the Syrian regime will not use chemical weapons again. Since 2011, the Syrian regime has become a criminal regime that is willing to use every last source and capital for the state to kill and destroy the Syrian People and the Syrian state in order to stay in power no matter the cost. Also, this illustrates that the Russian pledge that the Syrian regime won’t use chemical weapons is worthless and that Russia’s influence within the Syrian regime has some limitations.
