As per request from the UN Special Envoy to Syria Mr. Staffan De Mistura. Two
researchers from the Syrian Network for Human Rights (Fadel Abdul Ghany: Director
and Wael Aleji: Spokesperson) met with the Special Envoy’s team in Geneva on
15/06/2015. The Syrian Network for Human is a civil society organisation that has
been investigating and documenting human rights violations by all parties involved in
the Syrian conflict since 2011.

Mr. Abdul Ghany raised the issue of the failure of the UNSC to implement its resolutions
to stop violence in Syria and protect the Syria people which caused the Syrian
people to lose faith in the UN. Mr. Abdul Ghany recommended several measures to
the Special Envoy to re-build trust between the Syrian society and the Special Envoy’s
mission.

Mr. Aleji focused on the process of national dialogue leading to a political solution that
would include a transitional period and credible elections.
The Special Envoy’s team requested that the SNHR would provide them with a road
map that includes the SNHR vision and recommendations for a sustainable political
solution in Syria. SNHR researchers as working on this plan which will be available in
