The Village is located to the northeast of Helfaya city. Its population is no more than 1000 people. There is a nearby military checkpoint, namely Zelien checkpoint. Orontes River goes right through the village and splits its agricultural lands into two halves. Most of the residents live in the northern part compared to the south where the simple village residents plant seasonal fruits and vegetables. This village is known for being extremely poor.
On 5 August 2012, army forces started a raid in the morning and randomly opened fire on the people which resulted in the killing of 10 victims at least including four from the family of Al Jaloud who were extrajudicially killed and executed.
