Unrestrained Systematic Torture Threats Thousands of Detainees at the Syrian Regime Prisons

Syrian authorities arrested the activist Mohammad Arab in Damascus on November 1, 2011. Since then, we have been receiving news about how he is being subjected to a daily, systematic torture along with hundreds of Syrian men and women. Today, September 6, 2012, this peaceful activist’s life is at serious risk for his health situation is alarmingly deteriorated.
 
As with any other human rights, medical, or relief organization from around the world, the Syrian government prohibits us from visiting its prisons and detention centers, leaving the door wide open for officers and military men to torture prisoners under an utter lack of accountability and full impunity, which is unprecedented in the modern age.
